Why a tortoise runs a site about long games
Cedarlynxplay began with a running joke among a few friends who had all, separately, kept a browser RPG character alive for years. One had a frontier doctor in The West, another a Druid in Shakes & Fidget who changed form more often than she changed socks. We kept comparing notes and realized nobody was writing about these games the way we played them: slowly, over seasons, with real lives around the edges.
So we built the site we wanted to read. Every review here comes from a character we raised ourselves, on a live server, over weeks and months. We write about what a normal week asks of you, which choices matter early, and where the fun lives once the tutorial lights go out. If a game is generous to people who never open the shop, we say so; if it is not, we say that too.
Our guide is Tamarack, a tortoise who has outlived several metas and refuses to hurry. You will see Tamarack on every page, usually with a reminder to read the quest text before clicking accept. The pace is the point. These are games you live alongside, so we judge them on how they fit into a life, not on how loudly they open.
We are a small Canadian desk. Our long evenings in January are spent in these worlds, and our notes are kept on paper as often as on screen. If you have played one of the six for longer than we have, we would love to hear what we missed.
A character of our own, every time
We never review from screenshots, trailers or a borrowed account. Each game gets a fresh hero raised on a live world, so what we write about the first month is something we actually lived through.
Time is the true price tag
Every game here is free to start, so we judge the real cost: how many minutes a normal week asks, and whether those minutes feel well spent. A respectful timer earns more praise from us than a flashy launch.
Scores carry a date and a reason
Worlds change. Each score is dated and explained, and when an update moves one, we write down what happened. No silent edits, no numbers that drift without a word.
